This recreational space on the lake’s northwest side is accessible by traveling to the Koontz Lake Association building at 10870 E. Access the beach east of Tippecanoe Drive at the end of Cherokee Road. Koontz Lake traces its solid roots to the late 1800s and its uses included commercial and agricultural. It is named after a business owner.

Established in 1937, Marian University’s Ancilla College started out as Ancilla Domini College. With an expansion in 1966, the College broadened its curriculum and admitted students from the surrounding area. In 2021, Marian University opened a location at the site of the former Ancilla College, dedicating itself to continuing the mission of bringing higher education supported through a foundation of faith to Marshall County and Northern Indiana.
